How to Setup WiFi on Brother QL-710w?
Here we are going to discuss the steps using which you can set up the Brother QL-710w printer properly.
You can set up the QL-710w Brother printer using the CD-ROM that comes with the printer. Or if you prefer, you also can do this by visiting the official website of Brother.
Method 1: Setup Wi-Fi on Brother QL-710w Printer Using Manufacturer’s Website
To set up the Brother QL-710w Printer using the manufacturer’s website, you can have a look at the steps given below:
First, unbox the printer and connect the power wire of the printer with the power outlet, but don’t turn the device On. Load the large roll of label paper that came with the Brother printer.
Afterward, plug the device with the computer using the grey USB cable. Then, turn the printer on.
Next, visit the official website of Brother and search for a suitable driver for your device. Once you get that, download and install the same on the system. Here you also need to download the ‘Printer Settings Tool’ for further usage.
After completing the installation process, open the printer Setting tool. After that, tap on the ‘Communication Settings…’ option from the ‘Printer Settings Tool’ pop-up window.
Next, navigate to the ‘Wireless Lan’ tab and tap on the ‘Wireless Settings’ option. Afterward, click on the Search button. Search for the wireless network that you wish the printer to connect with.
Type the password of the Wi-Fi network in the necessary box and then click on the Apply button to proceed further.
Once the printer gets connected to the wireless network, you will see the Wi-Fi light will turn to a solid green color.
Method 2: Wireless Setup of Brother QL-710w Printer Using CD-ROM
Before performing the steps below, you have to configure the broadcast network settings of the printer to communicate with the router. Once you complete the configuration, the computer on the network will get permission to access the printer.
Afterward, you need to install the software and driver to use the printer with your computer. If you are trying to connect the printer with the network, then it is recommended to contact the system administrator prior.
You also need to know the broadcast network settings before going to perform the installation method.
If you have configured the broadcast settings previously, then reset the network settings before going to configure the wireless settings. To do this, you can perform as follows:
- Turn the device off.
- Press the Cut button and hold it for a few seconds.
- Press the On/Off button of the printer while holding the Cut button. Now, you will see that the Wi-Fi lamp starts to flash green and the Status light flashes with Orange color.
- Again press the On/Off button by holding the Cut button and you will see the same result as you see before.
Afterward, you have to note down the Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Security Key/Encryption Key) from the base or side of the router. Then, perform these steps:
First and foremost, insert the installer CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the system. Select the model name of your printer from the pop-up list. Afterward, select your preferred language.
Click on the ‘Standard Installation’ option and then go through the license agreement properly. Check the ‘Agree’ box to accept the terms and conditions.
Afterward, tap on the Install button to initiate the installation process. Complete the installation by following the on-screen prompts.
Select the ‘Wireless Network Connection’ option and then tap on the ‘Next’ button to proceed further. Afterward, select the ‘Network Shared Printer’ or ‘Brother Peer-to-Peer Network Printer’ from the next page. Tap on the Next button to continue.
Click on the ‘Change the Firewall port settings to enable network connection and continue with the installation’ option and then tap on the Next button to proceed further. Next, choose the ‘Yes, I have a USB cable to use for installation’ option and tap on the Next button.
Now, temporarily connect the USB cable directly to the printer and computer. Click on the Next button from the Installation Configuration window.
Tick the Yes button if you want to connect with the listed SSID and then tap on the Next button. Now, it will start searching for available wireless networks. Type the Network Name that you have noted down previously. Afterward, click on the Next button.
Now, type the Network Key of the router and then tap on the Next button to proceed further. After that, you have to confirm the broadcast network settings and tap on the Next button.
As a result, it will be sent to the printer device. Now, you can disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer and computer. Lastly, click on the Next button to complete this procedure.
