Have you previously performed the Brother HL-L2380DW wireless setup? If you don’t have any technical knowledge about it or doing this for the first time, don’t worry. We will guide you through the Brother HL-L2380DW setup below.
But, before the setup, take some prerequisite measures so that the installation can be done without any further interruption. These are to be discussed in the next section.
Prerequisites of Brother HL-L2380DW Wireless Setup
For smooth printing and interruption-free connection between the printer and the wireless network, you have to maintain a minimum distance between the two. Place the printer as close as possible in order to avoid any interference.
You can also use the wired mode set up to avoid the hassle of a wireless connection. But, you should be aware of how to use either mode anytime. Another thing is you have to collect the wireless network name(SSID) and the encryption password.
Moreover, there are some basic things that you need to take into consideration before doing a wireless setup for your Brother printer. These are as follows:
- Make sure you have set up the physical components as per the wizard that comes with the package.
- Connect the printer to the power source and turn on the machine.
- Keep the installation CD-ROM with you.
- Turn on the PC.
How to Setup Brother HL-L2380DW Wireless?
Thre are mainly two ways to configure your printer for a wireless connection. The first one is using a USB cable and the second is without a USB cable. If you don’t have a USB cable, you can follow the second method. Otherwise, go for the first one. But before that, you have to install the network driver on the computer in order to use the full functionality of the printer.
Installation of the Network Driver
Put the installation CD-ROM into the disc drive. Windows will prompt the installation screen automatically as you insert the media. If the screen is asking to choose the model, select the particular number. Also, if it is asking to choose a language, select the desired one.
Next, click on “Install MFL-Pro Suite” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation on Windows.
If you are a MAC user, click on the “Driver Download” option to launch the Brother Solution Center. Follow the guidelines mentioned on that page in order to install the network driver in MAC OS.
After installing the driver, follow either of the methods discussed below as per your requirement.
Note: If the installation screen does not show up after putting the CD-ROM into the drive, navigate to “Computer > CD-ROM icon”. Double-click on the “start.exe” to install the driver. If the User Account Control prompts, select “Yes” or “Allow” to move further.
Method #1: Configure Using a USB Cable
After installing the driver, open the installation dashboard and tap on the “Wireless Network Connection”. Click on the Next button. Select the firewall settings in the next “Firewall/Antivirus detected” screen.
Tap the “Next” button and select “Yes, I have a USB cable to use for installation”. Again, click “Next” and in the new screen, choose the network to which you want to connect the printer. Type the password in the required field if it is asking.
Note: If the printer does not find the SSID(Network name), you have to add that manually. In the wireless network connections screen, click on the “Advanced” button and follow the on-screen instructions to add the network. You will also need to enter the SSID and the network password for this purpose.
Method #2: Configure Without a USB Cable (Using WPS or AOSS Mode)
To configure Brother HL-L2380DW wireless setup without a USB cable, you can follow the method #1. But, follow the steps until you reach the “Firewall/Antivirus detected” screen. Then, click “Next” and choose “no, I do not have a USB cable”. After clicking “Next”, press the Settings icon and go to “All Settings”.
After that, select the Network option and hit OK. Now, select WLAN and press OK. Tap on the up or down button to select the “WPS w/PIN Code” option and then OK. On the next screen, it will enable the wireless network to begin the setup wizard.
You will see an eight-digit PIN on the screen. So, remember to note that PIN for future reference. The printer will then start searching for a wireless network. Thereafter, Launch a web browser connected to the wireless network and type the access point’s IP address. It is basically the IP address of the WLAN access point or the router.
After typing the IP address, go to the WPS settings page and type the PIN. Next, follow the on-screen instructions to configure the printer on the network. Choose your printer when it is asked and click on Next.
Return to the installation window and select the network. Tap “Next” and hit “Close”. If the connection establishment is successful, your printer will print the wireless status report.
After applying any of the above methods, you can configure the wireless network setup for your printer without any issue. Just go through the steps thoroughly from the beginning to follow the instructions on Brother HL-L2380DW wireless setup.
